Our Beliefs

God

There is only one true and living God. He is all knowing, all powerful, and everywhere present.
He reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Father

As Father, God provides, loves, judges, and freely offers grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Son

Jesus Christ is the perfect representation of the Father in human form, both fully human and fully divine. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. In death, He was the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people. He rose from the dead after three days and later ascended to heaven. He will return one day. In the meantime, He lives in and through Christians.

Holy Spirit

He lives within each Christian to inspire, empower, guide, convict of sin, and gives abilities
and spiritual gifts for carrying out the work of the church.

Scripture

The Bible is the historical revelation of God’s activity for humanity; the authority of God to teach,
guide, correct, train, and save. It was inspired by the Holy Spirit, is truth without error
and is complete in revealing the will of God.

Salvation

Salvation is God reconciling humanity to Himself. The solution to overcoming the death penalty
of sin is to acknowledge the need for God, turn from sin, believe that Jesus is Savior
and publicly confess Him as Lord.

Baptism

Baptism is an outward expression of the inward change that has occurred in the life of a believer. It is not a means of salvation, and is not a requirement to become a member at Watts Bar Church.

Communion

Communion is a symbol of Jesus’ sacrifice. The bread and the cup represent the body and blood of Jesus. Those who have accepted Jesus Christ participate during periodic observances of communion.

Church

The church is the body of Christ, made up of different people with different gifts and abilities.
The church’s role is to glorify God and serve those in need.
